Predictions on first ice???

When do you think first ice will be in your area?

Hoping for Dec 17th, we seem to at least have some walkable ice in NE SD by then.

Would be great to shimmy out onto the ice over Thanksgiving weekend! Of course safety needs to be a priority at first ice, but a little walk-out panfish action would be great after a little turkey

I am usually somewhere in the Ely/Iron Range area for thanksgiving and can usually get out the day after thanksgiving on first ice. I have always loved thanksgiving but thinking about it more, maybe it was because I was actually excited for ice fishing ha.

Hoping the last weekend in November. More likely the second weekend in December. West central WI.

Last season it was Jan. 1, which is really late for shallow areas. Two years ago it was actually before gun deer season in Southern Wisconsin, the opener is the Saturday before Thanksgiving and I was catching crappies on Friday Nov. 21.
This year I hope it is right after the Milwaukee Ice Show because I will be more than ready to go.

My first day was Jan 9 in central wi.Hope around Christmas time or before this year.

Earliest for me has been the Saturday after Thanksgiving. hope this will be the case this year with them predicting a long colder then normal winter with heavy snow fall this year.

Any time we can start ice fishing in mid/late November would be great:)Two years ago I was ice fishing on Nov 13th. nothing better then deer hunting one day and ice fishing the next:)

56 degrees on the Mississippi backwaters on November 1st. My hopes for December 1st ice fishing may be in jeopardy
