Its been a stranger then fiction season out west. - 02/20/2017 10:05 AM

We got a late start this year due to a big snowfall at early ice, we had 18" of snow on 2" of ice. When it did get thick enough to walk on the slush was 8-10" deep. The top then froze and the lake was awesome. Then we got another big heavy wet snow and made the lake a slushy mess again. Now the lake is froze again and we are just starting to get pressure ridges. (Those generally happen with the first two weeks of ice). If the weather continues we will be back to wearing ice cleats next week. Has anyone else dealt with stranger then normal conditions?

That is how it was in NE SD this year. Now we are seeing temps nearing 60 degrees and our ice is going fast. It's been a strange year indeed.
