Unfortunately too few anglers across the ice belt would see the need. Not everyone has 20 walleye rods, and forty panfish rods like myself and many of you.

That said, when it comes to my walleye rods for Lake Erie and Saginaw Bay I don't bother with "ice lines". Every other year I buy I 1000 yd spool of Trilene XL in 8 & 10 lb. If you want a smaller line, go with the 6 lb for lighter lures.

Before I switched over to 3 lb orange Sufix/ with 1 lb Trilene 100% fluorocarbon leaders for the panfish rods, I used 300 yard spools of 2 lb Stren Hi-Vis Yellow/Gold exclusively.

Point is, the ice line pony spools are fine for most folks, but for the diehards, there are many options still available to spool up your reels from a bulk spool.
