Hayward and Cable lakes fishing and ice report.

Area lakes seem to have varying amounts of ice ranging from 9 inches to up to 16 inches. I found great changes in ice depth and sometimes only 20 feet apart. Many anglers were driving vehicles out on the area lakes, but I personally would not recommend it because of some of the thin areas that I encountered. Crappie fishing was fair to good and have been kind of a day to day thing….one day good, and the next fair. Walleyes for the most part are slow and northern action fair to good in the back bays and wherever you can find more green weeds. We are experiencing a snow storm right now with up to 6 inches predicted so watch for developing slush on the ice. Some lakes have been good while others have had medium slush conditions. This snow will make it a bit tougher to travel. The weather has been and is predicted to be good for temperatures and my suggestion would be to target the crappies! Good luck!
