The ice apocalypse is in effect hardcore around the Hills now. It seems that Stockade and Deerfield reservoirs are the only ones left with good ice now and Stockade may not look so hot after the next 4-5 days. The prairie lakes (Orman and Angostura) are reporting little ice left and boats have been out on Angostura for at least the past couple of weeks. A strong walleye bite is happening there in 30-35 FOW on jigs or Rippin' Raps. Orman has few reports due to the transition from hardwater to boating going on. Stockade has a decent bluegill and perch bite going on in less than 10 FOW with a largemouth or smallmouth mixed in there. Ice was 14" as of last weekend, though it may change very soon. Deerfield has a good perch bite happening in 30+ FOW if you can find the schools. Rainbow and lake trout are showing up in the shallows here and there. Ice is still 14"-16" thick, though some shoreline is starting to open up as of Thursday. Trout lakes (Mitchell, Sylvan, Center, Roubaix) have no reports which suggests the ice is not safe. Pactola is nearly open and some shore fishing activity has been happening near the north marina with trout being caught.
